Eldor (Al) F. Vollbrecht 1942–2020 Murrieta—Eldor (Al) F. Vollbrecht, 78, of Murrieta, CA died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his home due to complications from Covid-19. He was born September 24, 1942, son to Eldor and Viola (Schwartz) Vollbrecht. He attended school in Morristown through 8th grade and then Waseca, graduating from Central High School in 1960. Al furthered his education receiving a BS in Political Science from Mankato State University. He spent four years in the Air Force spending most of his tour of duty in Duluth, MN and the Azores Islands. Most of his career was spent working in city government for the cities of Albert Lea, MN; Ann Arbor, MI; Longmont, CO; Carson, CA; and ending in Murrieta, CA, where he retired in 2005. In his earlier years, Al was very involved with the Jaycees and was a state vice-president. He was also a strong presence in the Rotary Club in Murrieta, where his most cherished memory was traveling on medical missions for surgical repair on cleft lips and palates for children in need in other countries. He was always very involved in whatever community he lived in. He loved to travel and has made many friends all over the world. Al is survived by his brother, Keith (Marsha) Vollbrecht of Waseca; his sister, Carla (Tom) Southworth of Medford; nephew, Shaun (Heidi) Southworth of Pemberton; niece, Michelle Southworth of Blooming Prairie; great nephew, Jacob McHenry of Blooming Prairie; and special friends, Yojiro Iba and Annette Jennings of Murrieta, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldor and Viola Vollbrecht. A private family service will be held at a later date with interment in the Woodville Cemetery, Waseca. Al was loved by many and will be missed!
