With the city ravaged by tornadoes last fall, “Waterville Strong” was an apt theme for the city’s parade held Sunday during the 55th annual Bullhead Days celebration.

Almost every entry carried the slogan.

On Friday, the 63rd annual Miss Waterville and Junior Miss pageant was held in the high school auditorium. Waterville-Elysian-Morristown juniors this year, Megan Schmitz, Yoselin Morales, and Aviana Swanson, competed for the title. Swanson, daughter of Rhiannon Swanson, took home the crown.

Morales, daughter of Antonio and Aurelia Morales, received the Miss Congeniality Award, and Schmitz, daughter of Jessica Koski, earned the Talent Award.

Ten little girls competed in the junior miss contest, where a drawing determined the winners.

Saturday was the kids fishing contest where Swanson kissed the first of just eight fish caught. Appropriately, one of them was a bullhead.

Other attractions during the three-day celebration were food stands — including fried bullheads — amusement rides and games downtown, Bingo, softball and bean bag tournaments, a remote control car demolition derby, and fireworks. Musical acts entertained all weekend.
