Elysian Spice Club
Do you like to try new flavors and recipes? Try out a new spice every month at Spice Club. Each month Elysian Area Library features a new spice and makes it available in a free take-home kit. Then Club members meet to learn more about the spice’s history and its uses. The group also shares what everyone made with the spice and their opinions on it flavor. Line Drawing Workshops
Get started with drawing basic shapes and understanding composition at Waseca Public Library on Tuesday, March 21 at noon or 6 p.m. Artist and Creativebug instructor Lisa Congdon shares her tricks for approaching the blank page, from photo references or your imagination. Virtual Author Event: Jernard Wells
A talk that will leave you starving for more! Celebrity chef Jernard Wells will speak about his newest cookbook, Southern Inspired, at a virtual Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System event on Tuesday, March 21 at 3 p.m.
Delicious and inventive recipes that remix the traditional flavors and classic dishes of Southern food and celebrate African-American culinary contributions to tables worldwide—from the host of CLEO TV’s New Soul Kitchen. After growing up in Mississippi, Jernard Wells brought the familiar dishes and bold flavors of the South along his culinary journey to become a chef, restaurateur, and TV host. With Southern Inspired, Jernard continues his journey—retracing the steps of generations of African American cooks whose creations have contributed to global kitchen tables since slavery. Southern food defines
American food at large, and Chef Jernard takes it to a whole new level while still honoring its roots. Chef Jernard also brings in flavors from the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, and Europe, always with his signature Southern flair. This cookbook shares 100 recipes that are approachable for both beginners and more experienced cooks.

Little Coders
Kids ages 4-6 are invited to Little Coders for beginning coding activities! Kids will learn sequencing, problem-solving, storytelling, and directional skills through active and social play! This series will be held at Waseca Public Library on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. from March 22-April 19. Free and open to the public.
Cook the Book
Visit Waseca Public Library to choose a recipe from the selected cookbook. Then bring the finished dish to Waseca Public Library on Thursday, March 23 at noon, where the cooks will sample all the dishes and share their experiences. It’s a great way to meet people in the community, share cooking tips, and try out delicious food. Open to all cooking and baking skill levels.
The selected cookbook this session is: True North Cabin Cookbook: Recipes and Stories from a North Woods Table by Stephanie Hansen.
Paper Crafts
Learn simple origami to create fun paper projects, including an accordion wallet and a variety of envelopes at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at Janesville Public Library. This free event is geared for kids ages 9-12.
TV Theme Song Trivia
Can you name the TV Theme Song? Assemble a team of up to four players to test your knowledge at Waterville Event Center on Thursday, March 23 at 6 p.m. Library staff will quiz players as they compete to win Emmy Award status. Registration required.
