The Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System has a number of events planned at its libraries March 23 through March 28.
Elysian Area Library
Level Up: Paper Plane Science
Kids can build different kinds of paper airplanes and test them scientifically to see which one is the best on Monday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. This free event is geared for ages 7-12.
Janesville Public Library
Farmhouse Stacked Books
Create a neatly stacked set of books with family names or a favorite saying stamped along the spine on March 26 at 6 p.m. These books are so sweet and simple. Dress them up or down for different holidays. Registration required. Geared for adults.
Le Center Public Library
The One with the Trivia Winners. Library staff will quiz players in teams of up to four players as they compete to win Bracelet Buddy status at the American Legion in Le Center on Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. This free event is geared for adults.
Le Sueur Public Library
Titanic: The Unsinkable Experience
All aboard! Kids can pick up their boarding pass to play Titanic trivia, make discoveries about deadly icebergs, send messages with Morse code and make a ship that floats. This free event will be held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, March 27. This event is geared for ages 9-12.
Montgomery Public Library
Dog Man Unleashed
Celebrate Dog Man with trivia, Flat Peteys, wristlets, backpack décor and Knock Knock jokes that even Petey would love on Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m. This free event is geared for ages 7-12.
New Richland Public Library
Explore the art of suminagashi (or “floating ink”) paper marbling at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 23. This technique originated in Japan as early as the 12th century. Try out the art form and take home beautiful and unique monotypes. Free and open to the public.
Waseca Public Library
Jigsaw Puzzle Derby
Assemble a team of up to four players to compete in a jigsaw puzzle competition on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. The first team to complete the puzzle wins a prize and bragging rights. Jigsaw puzzle competitions are increasing in popularity, with the St. Paul Winter Carnival’s ranking as the largest in the nation.
Books and Brews
Waseca Public Library has found the perfect combo for a book club: bookworm babble and beer. Stop by the library to pick up this month’s book discussion selection, “Mostly Dead Things” by Kristen Arnett. Book club begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 at Half-Pint Brewery. Beer not provided but can be purchased.
Waterville Public Library
Cindy Bourne from the Mankato Makerspace will teach students in this class how to make beaded bracelets. This free event, geared for adults, will be held on Monday, March 23 at 5 p.m.
