South Country Health Alliance has appointed Scott Schufman as chief financial officer.

Schufman has an extensive background in finance and business operations and experience in health care and Managed Care Organizations.

“South Country Health Alliance is very fortunate that we were able to find someone of Scott’s caliber to fulfill this role,” said SCHA CEO Leota Lind.

Schufman has more than 35 years of financial management experience, previously working as director of business risk management for UnitedHealth Group and CFO for organizations including Metropolitan Health Plan and Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys. He has knowledge and experience in strategic and operational planning, financial analysis and projections, leadership and management, along with an appreciation for SCHA and its community-based mission.

“I’m excited to be here at South Country and do my part to help the company thrive,” said Schufman. “There’s a real need for the type of health care delivery that we offer, especially to our members in rural areas of the state. South Country’s local connection to its communities goes a long way in getting them the services they need.”

As CFO, Schufman will be responsible for leading SCHA’s financial operation, developing strategic plans and corporate policy, analyzing financial reports and managing and reviewing budgets, regulatory requirements and contract negotiations. Additionally, Schufman will directly supervise SCHA finance staff and participate on internal and external committees and task forces.
