Happy birthday this week to my niece, Lauren Aase, who celebrated her birthday on Jan. 5 and to her son, Henry, who celebrates his birthday on Jan. 8. Also happy anniversary to David and Lauren, who share their special day with Henry.

Happy Birthday also to Jeff Derscheid and Mary Bruessel who both have birthdays this week.

Katie, Mike and Ryan Block traveled to Fargo, North Dakota last weekend for Rumble on the Red, a wrestling tourney that Ryan was asked to participate in at the Fargodome. Ryan’s 12U True Champions Team took 3rd out of 30 teams, and Ryan went 3-2 against some older kids in his weight class. Congratulations, Ryan. They had a little bit of a challenge getting back home because of the blizzard in northwestern Minnesota, and the highways being closed, but they made it home on Monday evening.

Happy Birthday to Bonnie Otto who celebrated her birthday on Friday evening at the Kenyon Bar and Grill with Julie Broin and Allen Wetzstein. Happy birthday, Bonnie!

On Tuesday, I met Katie, Mike and Ryan at the Crooked Pint for a little post-Christmas get-together. I heard all about their weekend in Fargo, and their treacherous ride back home! It’s always fun to get together with those three.

Jeff and Karen Davidson hosted a New Year’s Eve get-together at their home on Tuesday night. As always, we had a fun time with an interactive dinner this year, and finished the night with a good, competitive game of Pictionary. We had a lot of laughs at some of the drawings that came out of the categories. WOW! Dave, Gail and I took down the other two teams!! Thanks for the fun night!

It was so much fun watching the U of MN Gophers vs. Auburn Tigers on New Year’s Day! It sure would have been fun to be there, and the Gopher Fans outnumbered the Auburn fans by quite a bit. Congrats to the coaches, players, and everyone involved in that program. Who knows, maybe next year they’ll be in the Rose Bowl?

On Saturday I stopped by the Sunset Home and had a cup of good coffee with Julie and Rochelle.

Thanks to Pastor Wayne Vogt of Rochester who lead us in Worship and Holy Communion on Sunday. Pastor Vogt will be with us again in two weeks. Next Sunday, Jan. 11, Pastor Matt Larson from the SEMN Synod will be at Moland. We will also have a potluck lunch, so plan to attend and bring a dish to pass.

Julie and Maggie enjoyed having sushi at the Tokyo Grill on Wednesday.

Another great game on Sunday with the Vikings upsetting Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in overtime on Sunday. They also proved all the guys on the pre-game show wrong on who was going to win that game. Next up are the San Francisco 49’ers.

Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year! Please remember to feed and water the birds.
