LaVae Jarstad Knowlton 1929–2020 Carrollton, Texas —LaVae Jarstad Knowlton of Carrollton, Texas died unexpectedly of a heart attack, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020. She was 91. LaVae was born to Joseph Jarstad and Helen (Satron) Jarstad on March 1, 1929 in Kenyon. She graduated from Kenyon High School where she met her husband, Gene Knowlton. They were married for 62 years before his passing in 2012. LaVae enjoyed entertaining, working crossword puzzles, all things British and dark chocolate with nuts. She attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and loved her Bible study group. They were a source of strength and comfort to her during Gene's illness as were many good friends. Special thanks to family friend Ron Knoll for his years of help and kindness to both Gene and LaVae. LaVae is survived by her sister Jean Elliott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her three daughters, Lynn (Randy) Moresi of Fort Worth, Texas, Marcia (Kevin) Olmstead of Utica, New York and Julie (Scott) Mearon of Tampa, Florida; four grandchildren, Kate (Jarrett) Hale, Kristen Moresi, Dan (Erika) Olmstead and Cortney Olmstead; and three great grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob and Joshua, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Rhoton Funeral Home in Carrollton, Texas at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Texas or the Salvation Army.
