Eleanor Traurig Kenyon—Eleanor Lois Traurig, 84, of Kenyon, died Friday, August 2, 2019 at Kenyon Sunset Home. She was born November 4, 1934 in Kenyon the daughter of Carl and Edith (Foss) Hjermstad. Eleanor graduated from Kenyon High School. She married Donald A. Traurig Feb. 13, 1954 in Kenyon. The couple moved to Williston, ND where they started their family. After a couple moves for work, they settled in San Jose, CA where Eleanor was a secretary for an elementary school and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service. She continued working for the postal service when they moved back to Minnesota and ended her career as the Postmaster in Kilkenny. When Eleanor retired, she moved back to Kenyon. In retirement she worked for Security State Bank and Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo. Eleanor was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved going to lunch on Wednesdays at the Kenyon Country Club. She also enjoyed reading, painting figurines, her dogs and traveling to Switzerland. She is survived by son, Donald D. Traurig of Kenyon, Robert Traurig of Morgan Hill, CA; granddaughter, Alyssa Traurig of Zumbrota and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald A. Traurig; daughter, Kay Alig; brothers, Clifford Hjermstad, Harris Hjermstad, Joel Hjermstad. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 10am to 11am. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11am at Michaelson Funeral Home, Kenyon with Pastor Julie Rogness officiating. Interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery in Kenyon.
