Thursday night, the MSHSL Section 2AAA Softball Tournament began at Caswell Park in Mankato and St. Peter, the No. 5 seed, opened play against the No. 4 seeded Marshall Tigers. A defensive masterpiece came to a disappointing end as the Saints fell 1-0 in nine innings after a pair of errors in the ninth inning gave Marshall the opportunity to score the lone run. St. Peter rebounded though, taking on Worthington in the first round of the elimination bracket and while the offense struggled against the Tigers, there were no issues for the Saints against the Trojans as they earned a 14-1 victory to stay alive.
