Northbound Hwy. 169 in Mankato near Belgrade Avenue/Veterans Memorial Bridge has been moved from a single lane closure to a shoulder closure, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said on Friday morning.

The initial lane closure put in place Thursday afternoon was due to a sinkhole that formed near a catch basin.

MnDOT crews secured the area, allowing for the lane closure to be removed. The shoulder closure will remain in place until river water levels recede and MnDOT can establish a permanent fix.

MnDOT urges motorists to drive with caution in the area and watch for workers and traffic control devices.
