The community is invited to a ceremony for the dignified disposal of American flags to be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 in front of the pavilion in Minnesota Square Park, weather permitting.
The event replace the Flag Day event cancelled due to inclement weather.
The William R. Witty American Legion Post #37 in St. Peter will conduct this solemn ceremony. Members of the post, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legions and Last Man's Club of the Vietnam War Era in St. Peter will also participate.
The ceremony will conclude with the dignified burning of unserviceable American flags. Post #37 accepts that flags are no longer serviceable. Flags can be dropped off at the American Legion during regular business hours. Flags that have been submitted to date have been properly folded and prepared for disposal by members of Boy Scout Troop #58 of St. Peter.
