Marvin D. Maas 1938–2020 Owatonna—Marvin Duane Maas, of Owatonna, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 11, 2020, at the age of 81. Friends may greet the family from 1-2:00 PM at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church in Owatonna, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 with a Memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery. Born Oct. 19, 1938, in Wayne, NE. He was the son of Louie and Hilda (Runge) Maas. He was raised on a farm near Ringsted, Iowa. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and attended Jack Creek Country School through 6th grade, graduating from Ringsted High School. He attended Mankato Commercial College, graduating with a degree in accounting. Upon graduating he worked in Owatonna, where he met and married Jeanne Gray and they later divorced, remaining good friends. Marvin enjoyed traveling, collecting coins, eating Snickers and ice cream, playing cards, agate hunting, and telling jokes to anyone who would listen, often carrying jokes with him in his wallet. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his former wife, Jeanne Maas of Owatonna, son, Michael Maas of Owatonna, daughters, Robin (Tim) Terrell of Waseca and Lisa (Nathan) Ward of St. Clair; nine grand-children and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcia (Larry) Boody, Maynard, Marlys (Walter) Black and Murlaine Maas. He was preceded in death by his parents and grand-daughter, Emma Ward. Memorials may be directed to West Hills Social Commons (formerly known as Senior Place).
