Jan Abbe 1946–2020 Owatonna—Janis Margaret Abbe, age 74, of Owatonna, MN passed away on November 22, 2020 at Timberdale Trace Memory Care after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's. Jan was born on August 18, 1946 in Waseca, MN to Alvin and Blanche (Clarke) Roemhildt. Jan attended Waseca High School and Mankato State University. On September 12, 1976, Jan was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Abbe. Jan and Bob made their residence on the family farm in Meriden, MN. Jan started her professional career as a home economics teacher and taught in Madison, WI and San Diego, CA before moving back to teach at Owatonna Junior High School and later at the Early Childhood Center in Waseca, MN. After her teaching career, Jan ran a successful business out of her home, You & Me, Inc, where she designed and manufactured wholesale gifts which were sold to stores across the United States. Jan was a talented and creative woman, with an entrepreneurial spirit, who had a love of life and ability to laugh and find the good in any situation. She brought joy to everyone around her and will be dearly missed. Jan had a passion for bicycling and walking, especially on the beaches of San Diego, her home away from home. Jan and Bob spent many winters traveling to San Diego where Jan could be found walking and biking the boardwalk of Mission Beach. Jan is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bob Abbe; daughter, Ann (Cort) Lundeen of Edina, MN; two grandchildren, Chelsey and Bode Lundeen; sisters Bettie Reising of San Diego, CA and Bonnie Savage of Spokane, WA; brothers Robert Roemhildt and Ron (Linda) Roemhildt of Waseca, MN; brother and sisters-in -law Ronald & Darlene Abbe, Douglas & Marilyn Pirkl of Owatonna, MN, Borris & Joyce Mokoff of Northfield, MN and Linda Wilkenson of New Richland, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law Melvin and Ordena Abbe; sister- in-law and her husband Dennis and Janet Priebe, brother-in-law John Wilkenson, sister-in-law Janelle Roemhildt and nephew Terry Priebe. The family is very grateful to the staff of both Timberdale Trace Memory Care and Heartland Hospice for their welcoming manner and for creating an atmosphere that ensured Jan felt comfortable. Due to Covid restrictions, the family is planning an outdoor committal service at grave side at St Paul's Cemetery in Meriden at 11am on Wednesday November 25. Masks and social distancing required. A live stream will take place on the Brick Meger Facebook Page. In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association: in memory of Jan, and Heartland Hospice: Patient Care Fund.
