James "Jim" P. Grubisch 1939–2020 Owatonna—James "Jim" P. Grubisch, 81, of Owatonna, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at Koda Living Community. He was born September 26, 1939, in Owatonna, the son of Jerome and Muriel (Johnson) Grubisch. Jim graduated from Owatonna High School. On December 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Karen Cozad in Mason City, IA. Jim entered into the United States Army and served in Alaska and Thailand as a radio operator. He was honorably discharged. Jim worked locally for a creamery, the canning company, Truth Hardware for over 20 years, and Cybex. In 1996, Jim and Karen moved to Las Vegas where he worked as a security guard. They lived in Tacoma and Kent, WA, and then returned to Owatonna to help take care of his grandchildren. Hobbies included paper crafts, painting, scooter rides around town, traveling, and cooking. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He is survived by daughter, Julie (and Joe) Palubicki of Winona; daughter, Amy (and Scott) Towle of Owatonna; granddaughters, Terry Towle and Sydney (and Patrick) Klein; great-granddaughter, Aideen Karow; siblings, Betty Hofius of Owatonna, Sharon Hassing of Owatonna, Bill (and Karen C.) Grubisch of Owatonna and Cathy (and Damian) Schleicher of Cañon City, CO, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50+ years, Karen F. Grubisch; parents, Jerome and Muriel Grubisch and brother Jerry Grubisch. A public visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 10th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM. A private family service will be held. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna.
