SEATTLE, Wash. — Joel Douglas Reuter, 28, of Seattle, formerly of Eden Prairie and Owatonna, passed away July 5, 2013 in Seattle.
Joel was born in Minneapolis and moved to Seattle in 2008 after graduating from the University of Arizona to begin a career in the software industry. Joel was well-loved by family, friends, and co-workers and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Doug and Nancy Reuter of Texas, sisters Andrea (Steve) Hall and two nephews, and Laura (Jeff) Blair and 2 nieces. Joel had a gentle spirit, and was known for his love of music and travel, his great sense of humor and wit, his intellect, generosity, and his willingness to help. Joel had the gift to inspire a fierce kind of love and loyalty in his friends.
Our family would like to express our thanks to his numerous friends and co-workers who went above and beyond to help Joel during his battle with cancer and mental illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Wooddale Church, 6630 Shady Oak Road, Eden Prairie with visitation one hour prior. Private interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Thank you, Joel, for teaching all of us so much about loyalty, compassion, and love.
