Dorothy B. Heil 1927–2020 Owatonna—Dorothy Bertha Heil, 93, of Owatonna, died Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Koda Living Community. She was born February 8, 1927 in Wilton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota, the daughter of Benjamin "Ben" and Ella (Miller) Roesler. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1944. Dorothy's work career included the Otisco Creamery, Farmers National Bank in Waseca and the Courthouse in Waseca. She married Alfred "Al" Heil on September 14, 1944 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Waseca. The couple made their home in Owatonna where they raised their family. Dorothy and Al were part of the group of people who were instrumental in starting Bethel Church. They faithfully attended and served the church for many years. Dorothy enjoyed painting, singing, walks, camping, gardening, helping out her neighbors and hosting family events. After they built their home in the Hilltop area, she made many friends that have continued up to her death. She is survived by children, Cleone (Paul) Smith of Denver, Diane (Mark) Asprey of Austin and Bradley (Margaret) Heil of Apple Valley; son-in-law, Steve Cooper of Middlebury, IN; grandchildren, Aaron (Michelle) Smith, Meghan Smith (Will Alan), Aubrey Smith, Michael Smith, Rachel (Aaron) Roberts, Hope (Zach) Lien, Clint Asprey, Casey (Dan) Strack, Holly (Philip) Ryks, Sophia Heil and Andy Heil and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Ella; husband, Al Heil; daughters, Rebecca Cooper and Gretchen Heil; siblings, Rollie (Erma) Roesler, Oliver (Vivian) Roesler, Irell (Chuck) Knudsen and Emerson (Norrine) Roesler. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and at Bethel Church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Church in Owatonna with Pastor Micheal Simmerman officiating. Memorials are preferred to Bethel Church or The Salvation Army.
