Marlin D. Johnson 1945–2020 West Concord—Marlin Dale Johnson, 75, of West Concord, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 12, 1945, in Tyler, the son of Frank and Gretchen (Hassman) Johnson. Marlin graduated from Tracy High School in 1963. On June 19, 1963, he entered the United States Navy and served two tours during the Vietnam War. On June 16, 1967, he was honorably discharged and returned home. Marlin attended vocational training for welding. He married Penny Swanson and moved to Rochester. They had two children, Aaron and Michelle, and were later divorced. Marlin worked at Briese Iron Works as a welder. On January 1, 1994, he married Lois "Jeannie" Sorn at their home in West Concord. They had two children, Laramy and Justin. Marlin worked for McNeilus Truck Manufacturer for over 30 years until his retirement. Marlin enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading and shooting guns. He loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren. Marlin's family will miss his sense of humor. Marlin was a member of Faith Community Church and the American Legion Post 295 in West Concord. He is survived by his wife Lois "Jeannie" Johnson of West Concord; children, Aaron (Donna) Johnson of Hutchinson, Michelle (fiancé Keith Anderson) Klippen of Shakopee, Laramy (Kristen) Lawson of Good Thunder and Justin (Vanessa) Johnson of Owatonna; grandchildren, Mercedes (Brian) Hubert, Matthew and Brandon Johnson, Hailey Christensen, Trevor Klippen, Austin Masso, Dayton Schwarck, Grayson and Weston Lawson and Jaylynne Johnson; brother, Carson "Charlie" Johnson of Litchfield; sister, Carol (Don) Andrews of Billings, MT; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gretchen; brother, Dennis Johnson and sisters, Donna Bennett and Louella Turner. Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home, West Concord Chapel on Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held July 7, 2020 at 2:30 PM at Faith Community Church with David Breederland officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Concord Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the West Concord Fire Department Relief Association.
