The Northfield boys soccer team won its penultimate game of the regular season 3-1 against Faribault (7-8, 5-6 Big 9 Conference) on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Northfield High School.

Northfeld (5-6-1, 4-6-1) then closed its regular season Thursday night with a 1-1 draw at Rochester John Marshall (5-5-4, 3-5-3).

Against the Rockets, the Raiders fought back from an early 1-0 deficit with the game-tying goal with about 20 minutes left in regulation after Rochester John Marshall had a player sent off with a red card.

The strong close to the regular season helped the Raiders secure the No. 6 seed in the Section 1AAA tournament, which starts with the quarterfinals Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Northfield travels to play third-seeded Rochester Mayo, top-seeded Lakeville South hosts Farmington, second-seeded Rochester Century hosts Rochester John Marshall and fourth-seeded Owatonna hosts Lakeville North.

In the regular season, the Raiders lost 4-1 against the Spartans.
