Gloria Dubbels 1925–2020 Northfield—Gloria Dubbels, age 94, passed away Friday evening, June 26, 2020, at the Care Center of the Northfield Retirement Community. Gloria Ernestine Augusta Dubbels was born August 9, 1925, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Albert and Cora (Heuer) Groth. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Eagan - the family farmhouse still stands next to Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church. Visitors frequently assumed that her dad was pastor for the church; he often said that he could have "married" many young couples who dropped by the house over the years. After Gloria graduated from Rosemount High School in 1944, she went to work as a secretary at Dun and Bradstreet and then for the IRS in downtown St. Paul. She intended to leave farm life behind until she met Merlin Dubbels at a dance. They married on September 5, 1954, at Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran. Gloria embraced the farm life at the couple's home in Randolph. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield, and settled down to raise their family. Gloria was involved in teaching children's Bible classes at Trinity, and enjoyed quilting and embroidering, but was too humble to show off her work. She loved to play cards and spend time with family and friends. In 1996, they moved into Northfield and enjoyed getting to know their neighbors on Gill Lane. In retirement, they traveled to warm locations throughout the U.S., including Florida and Arizona. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Curtis) Feil of Mountain Lake, her son, Garlan (Kathy) of Randolph; four grandchildren, Reid Feil (Haley), Kaitlin Feil, Jacob Dubbels, Luke Dubbels; six great-grandchildren, Mavrick, Kutler, Bridger, BrynLee, Bexley and Bellamie; her brother-in-law, Glenn (JoAnn) Dubbels of Farmington; her sister-in-law, Alta Anderson of Bloomington; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Merlin on March 14, 2017, her brother Eugene who passed away at the age of 21; and her parents. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Northfield. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at the Bierman Funeral Home and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service. Due to Covid 19, please bring a mask and we will assist guests with social distancing. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. biermanfuneralhome.com
