Charlene Kessler 1936–2020 Northfield—Char Kessler, age 83, passed away with her husband by her side, on Friday morning, January 3, 2020, at the Three Links Care Center. Charlene Nan "Char" (Foote) Kessler was born December 21, 1936, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, to Thomas and Georgia Mae (Blank) Foote. On February 19, 1955, she married James Kessler. In 1967, the family moved to Northfield. In 1975, she purchased Drew's Fabrics and Needle Art which she operated until her retirement in 1990. After retirement she and Jim spent winters in South Lake Tahoe, CA, Myrtle Beach, SC and Surprise, AZ. She enjoyed golf, traveling and the pleasure of many cruises with Jim. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Jim; her sons, James M. (Lucia) of Republic, Michigan, Steven (Deborah) of Clayton, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Steven Alexander (Molly) Kessler and Annie Leigh Kessler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Darlene Burris, and her brothers Ronald, Donald and Robert Foote. Services will be 10:30AM, Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Emmaus Church in Northfield. A reception will follow at the Northfield Golf Club. Visitation will be 4-6PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home and will continue at the church on Thursday beginning at 9:30AM. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Northfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
