Glen Holz 1946–2019 Northfield—Glen Holz, age 73 of Northfield, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2019. Glen Herbert Holz was born March 9, 1946, in Farmington, Minnesota, to Hugo and Florence (Englert) Holz. He was raised in Rosemount and graduated from St. Croix Lutheran High School in 1964. In February 1966, he was inducted into the US Army. He served in Huntsville, Alabama, before being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. On June 1, 1968, Glen married Karen Elizabeth Ohmann at Trinity Lone Oak Lutheran Church in Eagan, Minnesota. Following his Honorable Discharge in January 1969, they returned to Rosemount. They farmed in Rosemount, Nerstrand, and Clear Lake, Wisconsin. In 1983, they moved to Northfield and Glen drove semi for Consolidated Freightways and other area companies. He was also a longtime realtor and had worked most recently with Top Notch Properties in Farmington. Together with his son Chad, Glen owned and operated Dakota Carpet Cleaning from 1994 - 2002. Over the years Glen was recognized in both areas of trucking and real estate for his outstanding work. Glen was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church He is a former member of the Waterford Township Board and was a longtime 4-H leader. He is a member and past commander of Northfield American Legion Post 84 where he was active on the color guard. Glen was kind, giving, caring, selfless, and hardworking. He greatly enjoyed visiting with family and friends and found his greatest joy in his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Karen; his children, Dongi (Jason) Huss of Rosemount, Chad (Kristin) of Northfield, Chris (Jessica) of Northfield; 8 grandchildren, Kenley and Brady Huss, Lauren and Tyler Holz, Jaelyn, Camden, Adele and Danika Holz; his brother, Don (Glenda) of Farmington; his brothers-in-law, Jay Nykamp of Holland, MI, Stan (Mary) Ohmann of Cannon Falls, Kevin Ohmann of Northfield, Keith Ohmann of Cannon Falls; his sisters-in-law, Colleen (Steve) Thompson of Cannon Falls, Carolynn (Randy) Ohmann-Villa of Ramsey; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wilmer and his sister Shirlene Nykamp. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Northfield. Military Honors and reception will follow. Honorary pallbearers are Dave Mathews, Fritz Schuldt, Dennis Kuhn, Eric Ruud, Chris Bakken, Steve Thompson, Daryl Buecksler and Jerry Holz.
