Ruth Spartz 1938–2020 Northfield—Ruth Spartz, age 82 of Montgomery, formerly of Northfield, passed away unexpectedly at the New Prague Hospital on Tuesday evening, November 24, 2020. Ruth Adeline Spartz was born August 13,1938, in Sauk City, Wisconsin, to Alfred and Amanda (Weiss) Meyer. She was raised in the Sauk City / Prairie du Sac area. She attended public school and following her education worked at home. On August 17, 1959, Ruth married Frank L. "Murphy" Spartz, Jr. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. After marriage they made their home in Dundas. Ruth worked as a nurses aid at the Odd Fellows Home in the late 1950's and as a cook at St. Olaf College from 1960 -1968. She returned to Three Links where she worked until retiring in 2004. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, watching game shows and westerns, playing cards, Bingo, Yahtzee, going to the casino and many years as a league bowler. She was kind, easy going, non-judgmental, was well know and well liked, and had a heart-of-gold. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her children Robert (Gaylene) Meyer of Webster, Lori Sargent of Montgomery, Sally Spartz (Dan Ross) of Faribault, Wanda Leese (Brian Weinrich) of Alma, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren Michelle Meyer, Corey (Alyssa Ann) Meyer, Ashley Meyer, Bailey Meyer, Shawn (Terry) Sargent, Michael (Erin) Sargent, Jenny (Bernard) Barabash, Leah (Shannon) Riley, Alicia (John) Jans, Heather Leese, Shannon Leese; 26 great-grandchildren; her sister, Violet Hatcher of Denton, Texas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Donald Sargent, her sisters Irma Volz, Lorna Hanson, Rosella Hanson and Evelyn Horton; her brother David Meyer, and her parents. Services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Bierman Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
