Kimberly Tilock 1966–2020 Northfield—Kimberly Tilock, age 53 of Nairobi, Kenya, passed away Monday morning, January 27, 2020, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester following a heroic battle with lung cancer. Kimberly Ann Tilock was born May 17, 1966, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to James and Christine (Ellison) Tilock. At the age of five she moved with her family to Northfield. Kim graduated from Northfield High School in 1984 and attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Essex (England) receiving her BS in Economics in 1988. She went on to graduate school at the University of California - San Diego, receiving her MA in International Relations in 1994. Kim married Matthew Lovick on December 30, 2010, in Las Vegas. Kim worked for Global Communities, a non-profit international development organization for the past 20 years. She designed and managed economic, agricultural, community development, disaster response, and health and nutrition projects in eighteen different countries throughout the Mid-East, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America; her last capacity being the Country Director for Kenya. Kim was a board member of LivelyHoods, an organization devoted to creating jobs for talented youth and women in urban slums. She wanted to make a difference in the world and her actions made better the lives of countless people. She was determined, curious, strong willed, and set the highest of standards for herself. She enjoyed hiking, running, participating in marathons, and was able to make strong friendships with people everywhere. She was an incredibly loving wife and mother and she will be so greatly missed. Survivors include her husband, Matthew Lovick; her son, Quinn Ellison Lovick; her mother, Chris Ellison of Northfield; her father, James (Judy) Tilock of Minneapolis; her brother, Aaron (Tasha) Tilock of Church Falls, VA; her nephews, Alexander, Gavin and Spencer; her brother-in-law, William Lovick (Ellen McCarthy) of Ann Arbor, MI; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Callahan of Lake Havasu City, AZ; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
