He worked for the Soo Line railroad, and when he retired he built a sawmill and spent time in his workshop, gardening, fishing and going for coffee twice a day with his good friends. He was always an outdoor person, loved ice fishing and hunting and had endless energy and was always helping all those he knew at a moment's notice. His family was everything to him and he was amazing in all the things he did for them. Allen savored the moments he spent with his children and grandchildren and everyday was a good day to him, despite living through many sorrows. He was always bringing home pets of all kinds for his five children, horses, cats, dogs, goat, sheep, rabbits, and raised hogs and beef cattle on the farm. Al and Marie celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary two days before he passed. Al's last years were spent quietly at home watching lots of wildlife with Marie and Deb and his cat Tipper.
