A 58-year-old man was injured in a Thursday afternoon crash between a pickup and a school bus west of Lonsdale.

Two students on the bus suffered minor injuries, according to a release from the Rice County Sheriff's Office. They were treated at the scene and release to their parents/guardians.

The driver, Andrew Pany, of rural New Prague, was reportedly taken to a metro hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, including a serious leg injury. The bus driver, Jerry Iverson, 73, of Prior Lake, was uninjured.

Authorities provided little information about the crash, which took place at the the intersection of 70th Street West and Jackson Avenue at 3:01 p.m.

Several students were reportedly aboard the southbound bus when it collided with the eastbound pickup. All but the two who were injured were placed onto another bus to complete the route.

Also responding to the scene were the Lonsdale Police and Fire departments, and North Memorial Ambulance.

The crash is still being investigated by the Rice County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol. All parties are cooperating with the investigation, Sheriff Troy Dunn said Friday in a written statement.
