Richard Edward Schloesser 1935–2019 Le Center— Richard Edward Schloesser, age 84, joined his heavenly family on Tuesday August 20, 2019 from Central Health Care in LeCenter MN. Visitation, Celebration of Life Mass, and luncheon were held Wednesday August 28th at St.Mary's Catholic Church in LeCenter. Interment is in Calvary Cemetery in LeCenter. Family members sprinkled farm soil from Rich Acres into his grave, so he'll be surrounded by his Farm into eternity. Richard was born on July 4th, 1935 to John and Mary (Lang) Schloesser. He was a resident of LeCenter his entire life. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Beverly Macho on September 3rd, 1955. To this union 8 children were born; John Scott, Julianne, Michael, Dale, Jamie, Terry, Jody, and Kelle. He was united in marriage to Colleen (McCabe) Kortuem on May 19, 1989. With this union Rich became stepfather to 5 more children; Christine, Tony, Devlin, Emily, and Greg. Rich was a faithful Catholic. No matter the work or the weather, he did not miss Mass. He was a member of St. Henry/St.Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He also served as Chairman, and member of the LeCenter School Board for many years. Ever the inventor, he designed a windshield roll bar and face apparel for snowmobiling, for the safety of their many friends and family as they crossed fields on their evening Winter adventures. This was the beginning of ROLCO Inc. company, which eventually was sold to partner and brother-in-law Vern Olson. He farmed with his family his whole life, retiring at age 80. An active NFO member, he was proactive, using new and innovative farm practices, and herd management techniques. Countless hours were spent designing new buildings for expansion and devising gadgets to make life on the farm easier. It was always an adventure when it came time to lay concrete, Rich always had the concrete ordered before the forms were even in place. Everything managed to turn out well, so on to the next project he would go! As a dairy and crop farmer, he was devoted to the "other" green and was very proud of his collection of Oliver tractors, he worked many hours on restoring them to their original glory. His greatest joy in life was his family whom he taught the value of an honest days work. He built the Family Lodge, to host gatherings for his ever multiplying group. He was a big kid at heart and enjoyed spoiling his grandkids. He was known to build the best tree houses and sand pile diggers. Teasing his grandchildren was a favorite pastime! He often commented "If he had known that grandchildren were so much fun, he would have had them first." As he cut back his farming duties, he always had time for a good cup of coffee and a kolacky. He is survived by his wife Colleen, his children J. Scott of Fletcher NC, Julianne Diehl (Bruce) Knoxville TN, Mike (Darcy) LeCenter, Dale (Jeanne) Harrisonville MO, Jamie (Vicki) Coon Rapids MN, Terry (Tina) LeCenter, Kelle Krohn(Scott) LeCenter, Chris Dylla (Nick) Madison Lake, Tony Kortuem LeCenter, Devlin Kortuem (Jodi) Mankato, Emily Wisemiller (Jason) Elk Mound WI, Greg Kortuem (Jessica) Hutchinson, 24 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, brother Alvin (Marge), sisters Bernadine (Ray) Singer, Bernadette (Marv) Engel, Helen (Vern) Olson and Evie (Steve) Tambornino, Sister in Law Kathy (Butch) Schloesser and brother in law Allan (Diane) Macho.
