Nature’s Balancing Act

1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 6

When we look closely at living things, we very quickly begin to notice fundamental connections and relationships. Come along on a hike to recognize some of these connections and learn more about the human connection to the natural world around us. This hike takes place on strenuous terrain. Dress for the weather.

Maximum 20 participants. RSVP by Oct. 30. Cost: Members: $3/person or $9/family of 3 or more; non-members: $5/person or $15/family of 3 or more

TwentySomethings Craft Night

6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 17

Young adults complete Pinterest projects centered around the environment while participating in conversation and creating new relationships. The group brings ideas for the next month’s project, and the choices are voted on. Snacks and beverages that participants trade off bringing.

Cost varies. November's project will be decided Oct. 27. RSVP a week in advance at www.neycenter.org/rsvp

Afternoon Christmas Tour at the Dr. William W. Mayo House

1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 26

View the Mayo Home fully decorated for Christmas as it would have been at the turn of the century. Enjoy Christmas music performed by local musicians in the parlor while sipping on hot cider and snacking on cookies. Children can make a small gift and ornament from the past. 

Admission: $6 adults, $5 seniors and college students, $4 children ages 5-17, free for children age 4 and under, and MNHS members and Mayo House Interpretive Society members.

Carving Club

1 to 3 p.m.

Participants receive hands on lessons regarding the fundamentals of carving wood from the amazingly talented Ollie Heitkamp. Contact Michelle if you would like to join as new members are always welcome but prep time is needed! Participants are responsible for bringing their own basic supplies.
