The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting on the second Sunday in December unites family and friends around the globe in lighting candles for one hour to honor the memories of the sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren gone too soon. As candles light on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. local time, hundreds of thousands of people join in.
The local lighting takes place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 700 South Broadway St., New Ulm.
This is believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe. The Annual Worldwide Candle Lighting is a gift to the bereavement community from The Compassionate Friends. This creates a virtual 24-hour wave of light as it moves from time zone to time zone.
We, The South Central MN Chapter of TCF, invite you to join us in person or on Zoom. (For a link to Zoom email firstname.lastname@example.org). Come early for the Pot Luck Meal at 6 p.m. (bring a main dish to share) or just the program at 6:30 p.m. Candles will be lit at 7 p.m.
The button maker will be available. Bring a copy of a picture of your child/sibling, grandchild to use for the button.
There will also be an opportunity to make a memorial ornament for your child/sibling/grandchild.
