The Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System has a number of events planned at its libraries from Sept. 16 through Sept. 30.
Waseca-Le Sueur Regional Library System Announces 2019 Fall History Series:

At Memorable Minnesotans, Minnesota’s legendary characters will be brought to life through stories and songs written by folk legend Charlie Maguire. The event will take place at Waseca Public Library (408 North State Street, Waseca, MN) on Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m. Ride with the first woman to win a national motorcycle race; travel to Gettysburg with the First Minnesotans, marvel at Bertha Lehmann’s Titanic rescue and more.
Elisa Korenne’s award-winning original songs and stories in “Madams, Matrons, & Madwomen: Extraordinary Women in American History” celebrate a wide range of women from Victoria Woodhull to the Hormel Girls musical group. The event will begin at Montgomery Public Library (104 Oak Ave SE, Montgomery, MN) on Thursday, September 26 at 7 p.m.
To wrap up the series, author Staci Drouillard tells the story of Chippewa City, an Ojibwe village once home to around 200 families at the turn of the 19th century, in Walking the Old Road at Waterville Public Library (210 E Paquin St, Waterville, MN) on Monday, September 30 at 5 p.m. In the 20th century, the land—prime lake shore—was gradually stolen from under the Ojibwe, including Drouillard’s family, living there.
