Memorial visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home on Monday, July 6th from 4 to 8 p.m.
Dad was born on February 13, 1957 in Faribault to our grandparents, Victor and Marian (Pofahl) Moravec. He graduated from Faribault High School with the Class of 1976. Dad’s first job was at Basilleo’s Pizza as a dishwasher. From there he spent time working at the Faribault Cheese Caves. He went on to become a building engineer and boiler operator for 27 years for the Faribault School District. Over the years, dad loved and cared for each child as his own. Students referred to him as Mr. Kevin. Following his cancer diagnosis, dad decided to retire, but he will forever be a Lincoln Lion.
Dad had a passion for gardening; he took great pride in his gardens, growing each plant from seed. His famous “veges sign” was often seen on Hwy 3 where he sold his prize produce. Dad had many talents beyond gardening. Dad could and would fix anything. If it was broke, he would fix it. He was a Jack of all trades. Dad was an avid fisherman, his famous words were, “your bobber’s down”. He collected antiques and enjoyed going on the hunt for them. Rustic camping and state parks were some of dad’s favorite adventures with the family. Last but not least, dad loved rock-n-roll and a cold beer. He was often the first on the dance floor showing off his moves.
Many will say us, children were his pride and joy. We will forever be grateful for all the love, lessons, laughs and support he provided. He was our rock, super hero and the person we called dad. We have become the people we are today because of him. The memories and imprints he made in our lives will live on forever.
Kevin is survived by his children, Crystal Moravec (and Joseph Lenway) of Owatonna and Jason Moravec (and Justin Strauman) of Minneapolis; siblings Linda (and Brad) Strain and Gary (and Jan) Moravec, all of Faribault; the mother of his children, Maxine Priem; and other relatives and friends.
Kevin joins his parents, Victor and Marian Moravec and his stepmother, Lorraine Filek Moravec in heaven.
We are grateful for all the love and support from friends and family, especially Beth Schultz, who provided us with guidance and support during his final days. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.
