Walter “Tom” Larson, age 86, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.

Memorial services will be held at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Greg Purchla will officiate. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Memorial visitation will be held at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and will contine for one half hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Walter Thomas was born on December 25, 1933, in Faribault to Henry and Anna (Ottem) Larson. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1952. After graduation, Tom enlisted in the United States Army; he was honorably discharged in 1955. On July 26, 1957, Tom was united in marriage to Lois Taylor. He worked at Nutting Truck and Castor Company for 22 years and from there, he went to work at Crown Cork & Seal until his retirement. Tom loved to work but he relished in fishing trips with his buddies. Above all he loved time with his family. Tom also enjoyed building birdhouses, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and tending to his flower gardens.

Tom is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Dana (and Jean) Larson of Faribault, David (and Mary Kay) Larson of Nisswa and Ann (and Jeff) Erickson of Faribault; grandchildren, Bret (and Katie), Alex (and Lexi), Erick (and Amanda) and Tony Larson; step grandchildren, Adam (and Autumn) Erickson and Aaron (and Margo) Erickson; great grandchildren, Oliver and Henry Larson, Ivy Kay Larson, Asher and Beckham Erickson; brother, David Larson; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry; sisters, Grayce Anderson, Doloris Bisping, Audrey Anderson and Jane Tatge; brothers-in-law, Frank Jessop and Gilbert Tatge; sisters-in-law, Audrey Larson and Winnifred Skelton; nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity.
