Margie Burmeister 1938–2020 Houston, TX—Margie Burmeister, age 82, longtime resident of Medford, MN, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Heartis Clear Lake memory care in Houston, TX. Public visitation will be 4-7 pm, Sunday, July 26 at the Medford Funeral Home and 9-10 am Monday, July 27 at the Trinity Lutheran Church narthex in Medford. Funeral services will be a private family funeral at 10 am Monday, July 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends are invited to the interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Medford which will take place immediately after the funeral. Margie was born on March 13, 1938, the daughter of Alvin and Edna (Meyer) Theiss in Fountain Township, MN. Margie was baptized on April 3, 1938 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Wykoff, MN. Margie confirmed her baptismal faith on June 1, 1952 also at St. John's Lutheran. Her confirmation verse was "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." 1 Corinthians 6:20 (KJV). Margie attended Wykoff High School and graduated in 1956. She briefly attended Concordia College, St. Paul from 1956-1957. From 1958-1967, she worked at various insurance companies including Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna, MN. Margie married her husband of 43 years, Edgar Burmeister, on April 8, 1967 at Redeemer Lutheran in Owatonna, MN. The couple farmed in rural Medford until 1994 when they retired to a house in Medford. Margie worked as a dairy farmer and housewife, and also taught Sunday school and religious release time at Trinity Lutheran in Medford. She was also a member of Dorcas Circle and Ladies Aid. Margie lived at Medford Senior Care from 2015 to 2019 and then moved to Houston, TX to be near her son, Robert. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Meredith Theiss. Margie is survived by her son James (and Dawn) Burmeister of Nyssa, OR; son Robert (and Marsha) Burmeister of Houston, TX; Granddaughters Hannah and Esther Burmeister of Houston, TX; siblings Jean McClure, Rhonda Klunder, and Norman Theiss.
