Donald P. Finnesgard 1935–2020 Faribault—Donald P. Finnesgard, age 84 of Faribault, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Faribault on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Paul Rieger officiating. Spring Interment will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Faribault. Memorial visitation will be at church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Arrangements are being completed by Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault. Donald P., the son of Joseph and Ruth (Pierce) Finnesgard, was born June 26, 1935 in Faribault and was raised by Phillip and Mabel Finnesgard in Nerstrand. He graduated from Kenyon High School and served in the U.S. Army. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Minnesota as a pharmacist. Don married Margene Sawatzky on November 3, 1957 in Faribault. He owned and operated Payant Drug in Faribault until selling his business and continuing to work for Thrifty White until retirement. He was a former member of Sertoma and the Jaycees. Don had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying, fishing, pheasant hunting, golf, country line dancing, Latin American dancing, vacationing in Florida and Mexico with family and his dogs. He is survived by three children, Craig (and Carrie) Finnesgard, Krisann (and Joseph) Caron and Troy Finnesgard; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Finnesgard, Kiera LaRoche, Jordyn Finnesgard, Heidi Thomas, Heather Wilson, Sydney Finnesgard, Noah Finnesgard and Quinn Finnesgard; seven great grandchildren, Mabel, Liberty, Haven, Maverick, Ethan, Kendall and Harlow; siblings, Joseph (and Beverly) Finnesgard of Rochester, Joan Musgjerd of Kenyon, Sharon (and Bob) Kucera of Faribault, Mark (and Cathy) Finnesgard, Bruce (and Susan) Finnesgard of Zumbrota and Brian (and Nancy) Finnesgard of Oronoco. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margene; and two brothers, Paul David and Merlin Finnesgard. Visit for information and guest book.
