Roger Edward Baalson 1938–2020 Nerstrand—Roger Edward Baalson, age 81, of Nerstrand died on Friday, March 27, 2020, at the Kenyon Sunset Home, Kenyon. Memorial services will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Donald Kloster, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Nerstrand officiating. Private interment will be at Valley Grove Cemetery, Nerstrand. A memorial visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Saturday. Roger Edward Baalson, the son of Rudolph and Stella (Lester) Baalson was born on June 8, 1938 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1956. He married Kay Anderson on July 18, 1959, and they made their home in Nerstrand. Roger served in the U. S. Army Reserves and was a member of the Nerstrand Volunteer Fire Department. He was formerly employed by construction companies owned by Kolling, Kielmeyer, Buesing, Rud, Bolander, and Frontier as an equipment operator. Roger loved spending time with his family; playing bingo; dancing; giving stuffed animals as gifts and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, Kay of 61 years; five children, Barry (and Jenny) Baalson of Kenyon, Blair (and Jeanette) Baalson of Kenyon, Tami Wunderlich of Northfield, Tracey (and Jamie) Sartor of Faribault, Tara (and Greg) Knott of Kenyon; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Steven (and Laurie) Baalson of Kenyon; one sister in law, Mona Baalson of Faribault; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Stella; one sister, Kathleen Baalson; one brother, Donald Baalson; his father and mother in law, Eugene and Aileen Anderson; and two grandsons, Jacob Baalson and Benjamin Baalson; four sisters in law, Mary Lou Anderson, Lois Palmer, Betty Anderson and JoAnn Bussert.
