Robert J. Hanek 1940–2019 Faribault—Robert J. Hanek, 79, of Faribault, passed away on October 12, 2019 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Bob was born on June 5, 1940 to Augusta S. and John A. Hanek in rural Le Sueur County. He graduated from high school in Montgomery, MN and then spent six years serving in the U.S. Army. He married Carol A. Sensibaugh on October 26, 1963 and they made their home and raised their family in Faribault. Bob was employed for over 40 years at McQuay's in Faribault until his retirement. Bob was known for being a kind, helpful, hardworking person who was a friend to all he met. He spent much of his free time working on things around the house and tinkering in his garage with car repairs or anything else he felt needed to be fixed. He enjoyed fishing on local lakes with his boat, taking road trips with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; children Douglas Hanek and his wife Mary of Jordan, MN, Daniel Hanek and his wife Terry of Delano, MN and Dawn Westrum and her husband John of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Christopher Hanek (and his wife Katelyn), Sarah, and Matthew Hanek, Grace and Benjamin Hanek, and Zachary, Abigail and Brenton Westrum; great-grandson Cameron Douglas Hanek; brother William Hanek and his wife Marlene, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Augusta Hanek and nephew John G. Hanek. Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with interment immediately following at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.
