Faribault woman charged after alleged confrontation with a chisel
A Faribault woman is facing criminal charges after she allegedly swung an ice chisel during an argument with a man.
April Lynn Quay, 39, was charged Monday in Rice County District Court with felony assault with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor domestic assault. Assault charges may be filed in Minnesota when an assault is threatened, even if no actual harm occurred.
A man reported Quay had been drinking and swung a chisel at him while he was in a vehicle outside a Faribault residence Saturday night. The chisel smashed out the driver’s side rear window, according to the court complaint.
Quay allegedly admitted she threw a chisel because she was upset the man had taken money.
She will make a first court appearance on Feb. 22.
