Faribault Police are looking for two males suspected of an attempted assault of a juvenile female.

The girl reported to police that on Sunday at about 6:17 p.m., two armed African American males emerged from the wooded area near 14th Street NE and a bike trail crossing, and grabbed her. The victim struggled with the men, who then fled the area on foot.

The victim ran to a relative’s home nearby and contacted law enforcement. Officers responded immediately and searched the area, but did not find the suspects.

Suspect one was described as a black male, 5-foot, 7 inches; slender build, wearing a red sweater and black pants, with braided hair. Suspect two was described as a black male, 5-foot, 4 inches; curly hair, wearing a blue shirt, white pants and black and white shoes.

The victim reported the two males were each armed with handguns. The victim also reported that a male driving eastbound on 14th Street NE in a newer red SUV stopped, which caused the suspects to flee. Detectives would like to speak with this witness.

As of Tuesday afternoon, detectives were still attempting to locate the witness.

The investigation is ongoing and is still in initial phases. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Faribault Police at 507-334-4305.
