Things heated up on Saturday at Mankato West, where a multitude of teams and athletes attempted to qualify for state in different events.
The Janesville-Walfdorf-Pemberton Bulldogs were able to advance Maddie Zimbrich, Lauren Dimler and Aidan Oldenburg to the state competition next weekend at Hamline University.
Zimbrich scorched the track, as she brought home a first-place finish in the 200-meter race with a time of 26.86. Dimler took second place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.99 to advance to state. Lastly, Oldenburg scraped out a third-place finish in the pole vault with a measure of 13-3.
Dimler also came in third during the long jump with a measure of 16-09.50 and during the 100-meter hurdles recording a time of 16.66, but she will not compete in state for either of those events. Addie Peed came in fourth during the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:38.72. The girls 4x400 relay finished in fifth behind Dimler, Ashlin Keyes, Addison Peed and Madison Zimbrich after they posted a time of 4:20.75.
The state finals at Hamline University will take place next Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m.
