Alexander Alvarez, 23, of Waseca, was charged after an alleged domestic assault.

Alvarez was the protected party in a no contact order, the criminal complaint said. Alvarez had helped bail the other party in the no contact order out of jail. The other party had been staying with Alvarez, despite the order.

But they argued on Sept. 15 both at the residence and while driving around Waseca and Owatonna, the complaint said. They were at the NE Park, when Alvarez emptied the other party’s purse on the passenger seat of the car. Alvarez picked up a mirror and threw it at the other party, which cut a wrist. The other party took keys, then Alvarez responded by hitting the other party on the knee.

He was charged with felony domestic assault and will have a settlement conference in Waseca County District Court on Nov. 15. Alvarez has a prior domestic assault conviction from Steele County in 2017.
