Kenyon-Wanamingo softball found a bad time to face a red hot Byron team Friday.

The visiting Byron Bears (10-7, 6-4 Hiawatha Valley League) were on fire at the plate, finishing with 20 hits en route to a 25-0 win in four innings in Wanamingo.

Leah Berg's double for K-W (0-16, 0-10 HVL) broke up a no-hitter with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Byron had two home runs, one from Danielle Fode and the other from Heather Nordlund.

The Bears have won three in a row and six of the last seven.

K-W has completed HVL play and closes the regular season at Lake City's tournament Saturday at Bluff View Elementary.

The Knights open with Prescott, Wisconsin at 10 a.m. at the varsity field and will play again shortly after for third or first place against Lake City (6-12) or St. Anthony Village (12-6). If K-W faces HVL foe Lake City, it will not count toward the conference standings.
