Gladys J. Barsness 1922–2019 Kenyon—Obituary Notice Gladys Jeanette Barsness, 97, of Kenyon, died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Northfield Hospital Long Term Care. She was born April 18, 1922 in Roscoe Township in Goodhue County the daughter of Richard and Mabel (Swenson) Greseth. She grew up on a farm, attended country school and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1940. On June 30, 1942, she married Fred "Henry" Barsness at the Holden Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple lived on the farm in Cherry Grove Township and later in Kenyon. Gladys was a devoted farm wife and mother. She was a faithful member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon, very involved in the Farm Bureau, volunteered at the Kenyon Sunset Home and at the hospital in Vero Beach, Florida where the couple wintered for 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, yard work, gardening and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Fred (and Linda) Barsness of Kenyon and Lois (and Jordan) Benesh of West St. Paul; grandchildren, Lane (and Rick) Mueller, Kasee (and Jeff) Kozel, Erin Johnson, Chad (and Lill) Benesh and Bret (and Christy) Benesh and great grandchildren, Ryan Barsness, Cody (and Andra) Mueller, Tanner Mueller, Dallon Benesh and Zeta Benesh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mabel; husband, Fred "Henry" Barsness; great granddaughter, Marissa Mueller and siblings, Ray Greseth, Lila Lund, Ione Swenson and Richard "Bud" Greseth. Visitation will be Monday, June 3rd from 12:00 - 2:00pm with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00pm all at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon with Pastor Julie Rogness officiating. Private interment will be in the Kenyon Cemetery. In lieu of flower, memorials are preferred to First Evangelical Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
