Kenyon area men who were sworn into the army at Fort Snelling included Walter J. Larson, J. Howard Held, Harland H. Homeier, Lincoln Swelland and Harold Iverson. Assigned to the Navy were Thomas Flom and Harold B. Peterson.

The Kenyon Vikings bowed to Morristown 10 to 4 in the District 4 Championship baseball game. Tom Lieb pitched the majority of the game for Kenyon while Morristown countered with Jay Rasmussen, one of the top pitching aces in the state.
VFW members unveiled the sign of the new post home of Conrad Osthum Post 141. LeRoy Foss, Owen Musgjerd, Orester Nesseth, Harlan Rosvold, Quentin Mahlman, Don Gunderson, Lorrie Ugland and Commander Clifford Witt took part in the ceremony.
Ronald Friedrich and James Malloy attended the first session of the 4-H Junior Camp at Frontenac. Attending the second session were Miss Judy Kvittem and Miss Christine Quam. All are members of the Cherry Grove 4-H Club.
Confirmation and Holy Communion services were held at Holden Lutheran Church. Confirmed were Gail Bonhus, Kathy Broin, Jeffery Davidson, Melanie Hansen, Gail Haugen, Annette Jacobson, Christine Maisel and Cheryl Sathrum.
