As part of her senor project, Senior Beth Conlon of St. Peter is leading a group of students in a baking activity for learning and giving. Students from EdVisions Off Campus, an online charter school, will meet on Dec. 20 to create holiday treats and give them away. Teens from various areas throughout southern Minnesota will be led by fellow student and the aspiring pastry chef.

Conlon loves to bake and work with pastries and she wanted to fit an aspect of giving into her project. She decided that she could enlist the help of fellow classmates and turn it into a service learning opportunity! Senior projects require 300-500 hours of focus on a topic.

In addition to her service learning project, Conlon is also shadowing various pastry chefs, working as pastry chef at St Peter Food Coop and creating a mock bakery of her own design. She plans to attend the Culinary Institute of America or Johnson and Wales University.
