NUACT announced open auditions for five productions this Fall and Winter that require little or No memorization. No experience is necessary. Veteran actors and newcomers alike are encouraged to audition for these community theatre productions. Persons interested should call the NUACT office at (507) 359-9990 to set up an audition appointment. Many auditions can be conducted on the telephone if performers have been in NUACT shows before and an easy, short audition can be set by appointment.

The first production is “Who Stole My Schnitzel?” which will include six adults and two teenagers. The story revolves around two rival restaurants (one Italian, one German) in New Ulm are battling for the hearts and minds of the citizens. This Romeo & Juliet style comedy has one rehearsal from 7–9 p.m. on Nov. 1 with the one performance on the evening of Nov. 2 at Turner Hall.

“The History of Beer, Part II” seeks seven experienced performers aged 21 and over. The performers should have improvisation or production experience. The rehearsals will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Nov. 7 & 8 with one performance on Nov. 9 also at Turner Hall.

“The Elves and the Shoemaker” is a children’s play starring adult actors and two children. This production will not be in held in a typical workshop for kids. No experience necessary but the leads should have some stage experience. One rehearsal will be held from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 and the 3 performances will be at the New Ulm Event Center on Saturday, Nov. 30 in coordination with the Cristkindlemarkt Festival.

“Who Kidnapped Santa Claus?” will be presented as a Holiday play sponsored by the New Ulm Rotary. The one rehearsal will be from 7–9 p.m. on Dec. 6 and the one performance will be on Saturday night, Dec. 7 at the New Ulm Country Club.

Finally, this year NUACT’s annual Holiday radio play will be “A Seussified Christmas Carol” by Peter Bloedel. Rehearsals will be from 6:30–9:30 p.m. on Dec. 9, 11, & 12 with performances 7:30 p.m. on Friday & Saturday, Dec. 13 & 14 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15.
