LAKEVILLE — The third-seeded Owatonna girls soccer team failed to find the back of the net and had its season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to Lakeville South on Thursday evening in the Section 1-AA semifinal.
The Cougars, seeded second in the bracket and fresh off an 8-0 victory over Rochester John Marshall, scored two goals in each half and will play cross-town rival Lakeville North in the section title game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Grace Swail gave South a 1-0 before Grace Ruhl scored two of her team’s next three goals to put the game away.
Owatonna ends the season with a 10-7-1 overall record and won at least one playoff game for the 10th consecutive season. Jordan Whalen led the team with 14 goals while Grace Wolfe was tops in assists with nine.
