Effective July 2, the Owatonna People’s Press will be moving from the traditional carrier delivery model to having our newspaper delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. You will still receive the paper the same day as you do now. The only difference is it will be delivered with your mail.

Over the past several years many newspapers across the country have moved to mail delivery due to the efficiencies it offers. Our newspaper, as well as other newspapers, have been faced with the growing challenge of maintaining their own internal delivery force. Our independent carrier force is no longer made up of kids as it once was and finding adults to do the job has dried up mainly due to the full employment issue faced by many businesses.

Though we are sad to cut ties with our remaining faithful carriers, partnering with the Postal Service will be the most efficient way to deliver the newspaper since letter carriers are already stopping at every household.
