Wayne Allen Vangen 1950–2019 Owatonna—On Thursday, June 27th, 2019, Wayne Allen Vangen passed away from cancer at age 68. Born on July 11, 1950, he was preceded in death by his parents Paul Jerome (Jerry) and Virginia (Altringer) Vangen and older brother Lee. Wayne is survived by his loving partner Susan Manchester of Mound, MN, his brother Al (Lavonne) Vangen and sister Mavis (Bob) Gasner both of Owatonna, MN, his two sons Jordan (Callie) of Minneapolis and Dylan (Nicole), their mother Ann Hartsook, and five grandchildren Karis, Atley, Graham, Selah and Norah, all of Owatonna. Wayne graduated in 1968 from Marian High School in Owatonna, served in the Army and then worked many years with his father selling and repairing vacuum cleaners in their stores in and around Owatonna. Wayne loved fishing, golfing, hunting, camping in the boundary waters, barbequing, playing cards with friends, attending Moondance Jam each year in Walker, MN, doing projects around the house, spending winters in Texas and most of all entertaining kids. Calming babies was one of his special skills. All Wayne's friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Sunday, August 4th from 2 to 5pm at the Owatonna VFW. Memorials will be donated to veterans charities after funeral expenses have been paid.
