OWATONNA -- Jacqueline Kay Budig-Hartle of Overland Park, Kan., died of cancer Monday, May 5 at her home. She was 43.
Jacqueline Budig was born March 18, 1960, in Wadena, the daughter of Herbert and Donna (Stuewer) Budig. She attended school in Owatonna, graduating with the Owatonna High School class of 1978. She graduated from the College of St. Catherine's in 1982.
On Oct. 9, 1982, she married Daniel Hartle at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna.
In 1986, Mrs. Budig-Hartle received her master's degree from Winona State University.
The couple lived in southern Minnesota until 1995, when they moved to Atlanta. They have lived in Overland Park since 1997.
While in Minnesota, Jaci Budig-Hartle pursued a career in social work. Her interest in helping women and families extended outside her work to her various volunteer positions, including the Sexual Assault Crisis Center.
Mrs. Budig-Hartle was active in her church. She was also involved with the youth and music programs in each community where she lived.
Jaci Budig-Hartle is survived by her husband, Daniel; her parents, Herbert and Donna Budig of Owatonna; a son, Samuel Hartle of Overland Park; a daughter, Heidi Hartle of Overland Park; a brother, Kevin (and Kathy) Budig of Northfield; two sisters, Susan Budig (and Tom Reimler) of St. Louis Park, Michelle Budig (and Peter Landstrom) of Williamsburg, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Owatonna. The Rev. Gary Lueck will officiate. Burial will be at Havana Cemetery, Havana Township.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to Owatonna Area Hospice House.
