Senior Eli Knutson and junior Sean Lonergan were officially announced as qualifiers for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, as the list of participants was released by the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee on Saturday morning.

Knutson and Lonergan qualified for the national meet by virtue of having the 15th-best times in the country in the decathlon and 1,500-meter run, respectively. The top 20 declared student-athletes for each men's individual event contested were accepted into the competition.

Lonergan will make his second appearance at a national meet this season after finishing as an All-American at the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships in the mile run. Lonergan qualified for the outdoor national meet in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:51.75 from the University of Minnesota Men's Twilight on May 1.

Knutson qualified for his first national meet by posting a career-best score of 6,480 points in the decathlon at the Gregory Invitational final qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday in Naperville, Ill. Knutson's score ranks third on St. Olaf's all-time top 10 list, as he set personal bests in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, pole vault and 1,500-meter run.

The 2019 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
