To the editor:

I have a very strong maternal instinct that goes beyond my two grown daughters. I care for my great niece, and I care for the little ones at preschool. I wish I could literally take care of every child who may need it, but I can’t.

What I can do is work to ensure that every family is fully equipped to meet the needs of the children in their care. As a state, we can support families through paid family and medical leave, continuing the provider tax to fund Medicaid, fully fund education, and work towards 100% clean energy. Please join me in thanking Rep. Todd Lippert (651-296-0171) for his work to support Minnesota families, and ask Sen. Rich Draheim (651-296-5558) to encourage leadership in the Senate to prioritize Minnesota’s children instead of obstructing families’ ability to care for them.

Our state budget should reflect Minnesota values, and we value our children.
